For shure her performance is the juwel in the crown of those amazing concertseries

Week of the Metropole

Radio 2 organised the "Week of the Metropole". The Metropole orchestra is one of worlds best of it's kind.
3 live performances are done with; Trijntje Oosterhuis, Rob De Nijs and Ed Kowalszyk.
It was big fun to cover those concerts because of the difference in musicstyles.

And now: something complete different!

I'm working on a photoserie of "Botter" sailboats. Those are 100 year old wooden sailboats.
The pictures will be used in a new brochure of the rental service. I'm sailing a lot this summer.

Pearl Jam try out tour

Look at Eddy Vedder! He's jumping like in his younger days.
Pearl Jam did a short try out tour of 4 exclusive gigs in Europe after the release of their new album "Backspacer".
Rotterdam was the city to start.....

Grace Jones, forever young!

At the age of 61, Grace Jones has made a new album and started touring again.
I just can say WOW after seeing her and her new show.

CD and DVD artwork Marco Borsato "Wit Licht Live"

DVD registration from the fabulous and unique "Wit Licht"  concerts.

CD Cover Julian Thomas

It took Julian Thomas 35 months to release his second album.
But it's there with 11 top songs and a couple of pictures from me in the booklet and on the frontcover.

New DVD Edsilia Rombley now in stores

My first DVD Cover for this year is Edsilia Rombley Live @ The Wisseloord Studios. The sessions in this world famous music studio's took place in the summer of 2008. Edsilia, two times the Dutch representative at the Eurovision songcontest, does a theatre-tour trough Holland in the next months.

Encouraging royal words for Marco Borsato

I was honored with the demand  to cover exclusive, the royal premiere of the Marco Borsato "Wit Licht" movie, including the after party. And beside of all the pictures that are made on that special evening this picture is the most special to me. It shows how Princes Maxima and Prince Alexander mutually convince Marco not to be in doubt no more about his debut as an actor. He proved that his involvement with the story of this movie  makes him the best man for the character he plays.

DVD Cover and booklet for Lionel Richie "Symphonica in rosso"

Now in stores, the Lionel Richie "Symphonica in rosso" dvd. I'm proud to be a part of the team that did this production. It's a fantastic dvd with one of worlds greatest performers. The energy blows from your screen and if you ask me, also from the artwork ;-)

DVD Cover and booklet for LIVE, live at the Paradiso

The rockband Live asked me to do the photography of their new dvd LIVE, live at the Paradiso. This concert was early this yaer and was my first registration with the Nikon D3. You can see that in the print of the booklet. The quality is outstanding. Beside of that the concert was really steaming and full of energy. Band happy, me happy! Hope you'll enjoy it too.

Handmade concertbook for Marco Borsato

After the last show of his 8  "wit licht" concerts, for 250.000 people in the Gelredome , Arnhem I could present a huge photobook to Marco Borsato with pictures of the concerts. This was the first moment he could see how the show was seen by the audience. At the picture, from Nathalie Thielen, above you see how Marco and his wife Leontien enjoying this first site. After that they whisper words in my ear wich  I can't repeat here. The only comment I have is; "A great picture starts with a great performer"............

Handmade concertbook for Lionel Richie

I have covered the Lionel Richie "Symphonica in Rosso" concerts in september. At the last evening the concertpromotor presented a very large and heavy photobook of the show wich I have handmade. Lionel was, as a photography lover, very impressed by this present.

The biggest stage ever on tour

World famous, Dutch, violin player Andre Rieu is travelling around the world wiith the largest movable stage that ever was build, it measures 125 meter by 38 meter high
. It's a full-size reproduction of the Empress Sisi's castle in Vienna, the Schönbrunn Palace. The set up of this stage is done  at the with of a footbalstadium instead of the lenght as usual with stages. This means that only half of the capacity of a stadium can be used. Tickets are of course double priced. What you see above is the stage build in the Amsterdam Arena Stadium. Maybe it's hard to see but there are about 250 performers on stage in this shot. The orchestra on the lower stage, dancers on the upper stage, ice skaters on the left en the right stages and of course the maestro himself in the midle. Three Guinness Book world records were set in the process - biggest set ever built; the largest logistical operation ever undertaken; and the largest number of performers for one show. I was allowed to climb up to the middle of the height to make this exclusive shot.

CD and DVD cover Trijntje Oosterhuis & Leonardo Amuedo

Dutch top singer Trijntje Oosterhuis did last year an akoustic theatre tour with guitarist Leonardo Amuedo from Urugay. Because of the huge succes and the beauty of the concert itself there is a registration made of this event. It's been released on dvd and cd and I was asked to make the pictures for the artwork.  Beside of the artwork the pictures are used to build a stunning 3D menu structure on the dvd.

New Dimensions in rock photography!

Normally the picture on the right from Canadian singer Feist in Paradiso, Amsterdam couldn't have been made because of the low light conditions during her concert. The light was so low that almost no camera can capture this in a good image quality.Except! The new Nikon D3. I'm glad to have this new monstercamera in my hands now. It's without any doubt the best I ever worked with.

Guus Meeuwis Photo & Song Book

I'm proud to present my second book. After the Marco Borsato Symphonica book in 2006 now there's a book of the Guus Meeuwis concerts in Eindhoven 2007. About one 100 pages with pictures and sheet music of Meeuwis his best songs spread over foldable triple pages. And there is more extra in this book. In the back cover is a dvd with backstage footage from those concerts. I think this book is one of the best possible collaborations between artist and photographer.

DVD Cover Gerard Joling live in Ahoy

Complete overdressed, thats a signature of Dutch singer Gerard Joling. Just have a look at that coat! His show in the Rotterdam Ahoy was broadcasted on national tv on newyears evening. And  now it is released on DVD. I've shot the cover and some pictures for the inside of the booklet that was completed by collegae Brest van Kempen.

CD / DVD Cover Paul de Leeuw

I'm proud with the cover and 12 paged booklet inserted in the dvd of the Symphonica in Rosso concerts from Paul de Leeuw. In november did the multi talented singer and TV personality 5 shows in the Gelredome stadium in Arnhem. 160000 visitors saw a impressive show and it's no wonder that this DVD entered the chart at #1 in december and stayed there for the whole month.

Again cd/ dvd cover Guus Meeuwis

For the second time I've covered the stadium shows of  topsinger Guus Meeuwis. His PSV stadium concerts are already a tradition and for next year already 4 shows are sold out. The DVD with the registration of the shows entered the Dutch charts at #1 in november.

Rihanna at the HMH

Great dress, great legs, great voice, great performance, great show! So simple is that. Rihanna did a show in a overfilled Heineken Music Hall and nothing was wrong with that.

At last! Amy Winehouse. And exclusive!

I've missed her two times this year because she didn't show up but this time everyting happened as planned. I was the only photographer who was allowed of making pictures at her show in the Heineken Music Hal. And I should take care of providing all the Dutch newspapers with pics. It is not the way it has to be but there was no other option.

Gwen Stefani Ahoy

Gewn Stefani is touring trough Europe so she also did a Dutch concert in the Ahoy in Rotterdam. It was a professional performance with a lot of dressing changes and dance. At the end of the show she went into the audience and everybody was happy after....

Legends on stage

Last weeks I've seen a lot of legends on stage. Artist like  The Who, Allen Toussaint, Blondie, David Sanborn, Gary Moore, Gino Vanelli, Iggy Pop, Joe Zawinul, John Fogerty, Paul Rodgers, Sly Stone, and Steeley Dan are in my record collection whole my life. Some of them I've never seen live and now in month time they came by as old friends on several stages. The players in the soundtrack of my live! Some old, some too old but some of them still  fresh as in their best days. Have a look at them here>>

At the right you see the biggest legend of them all, Sly Stone who disappeared for years. He wasn't able to play more than 5 songs but that funked as in his younger years. The voice is still there! This picture was shot at the North Sea Jazz festival and you can see more of that festival here>>

Photocall James Morrison

James Morrison came to Amsterdam to perform his first "BIG"gig in Holland. After a succesfull show in the Heineken Music Hall some months ago he is big enough to get 10.000 people at the Westerpark area in the centre of Amsterdam.

Before the show I was allowed to make some pictures for a Dutch women magazine wich will be published in some weeks. James is a relaxed, cool guy and a very good musician. So it's not strange that his stardom is growing all over the world. I wonder if he will be back in a year..............

Cover Telegraaf VROUW

It's always fun to see your pictures published. It's even nicer to have a covershot. But to have a cover on a A1 publication like the womens magazine of the Telegraaf, the largest newspaper in the Netherlands is more than fun ;-)))

Edsilia Rombley, the Dutch Eurovision Songcontest  participant, is covered in a 5 page interview. The pictures are from a session we did some time ago.

Elevated photos

Some time ago I've told you about my 15 meters high, air pressured tripod (see here and here). Because of the winter I didn't used it much but with the nice sunny days of the last week I took it out and made some examples. You can see them here >>. There are also some concertshots but I did them with a 7 meter tripod. And remember, all the shots are made from the ground.
